What's on: Reading group

The Degrowth London reading group meets every month. This month, we are meeting on Tuesday 27th October 2026, 6.30-8pm at LARC (62 Fieldgate St, London E1 1ES) to discuss lithium mining and its impacts across the environment, local communities, and international politics (and how these topics are all connected).

Please read:

1. Amnesty International. (2026). What are ‘critical minerals’ and why do they matter for human rights?

and

2. Riofrancos, T. (2023). The security–sustainability nexus: Lithium onshoring in the Global North. Global Environmental Politics, 23(1), 20-41.

We’re looking forward to discussing this topic and how it links with our upcoming screening of Savanna and The Mountain in November. We will probably go to a nearby pub afterwards!
